Listings accelerated in September as applications moved the other way
Crypto job listings rose to more than 1,200 in September, according to CryptoJobsList data, marking one of the strongest increases of the year. By contrast, candidate applications fell over the same period: after 25,700 in July, the number dropped to 24,631 in August and stayed just below 20,000 in September.
The figures suggest crypto companies entered the final quarter of the year with more open positions, but the rise has not yet been matched by a broader flow of applicants. The platform interprets this divergence between listings and applications as a sign of intensifying competition for specialist workers, although the data alone does not show why applications declined.
What does the 2025 comparison show?
According to CryptoJobsList data, there was no similar jump in the August-September period in 2025. Last year, the busiest month for crypto hiring was October, when the number of listings was recorded at just 373, while July, August and September remained broadly flat.
This comparison suggests September's increase cannot be explained solely as a late-summer effect. The platform's historical data does not show a recurring pattern of a similar-scale rise every year when summer ends.
Which areas are seeing the most demand?
Standout job categories in the past three months
The distribution of listings also shows which skills companies are prioritizing. Over the past three months, finance was the largest category, followed by engineering and trading roles.
- Finance, engineering and trading ranked at the top.
- Stablecoin, artificial intelligence, security and compliance also appeared in the top 10.
Blockchain knowledge in demand
The most commonly sought blockchain familiarity among candidates was Bitcoin. Bitcoin was followed by Ethereum and Solana, showing that demand for technical expertise remains concentrated around the sector's three biggest networks.
Overall, the picture shows the crypto job market entering the fourth quarter with more open roles than earlier in the year. However, current data also indicates that the number of applications for those roles has not yet risen at the same pace.
