Which products is Robinhood launching at the same time?

Robinhood unveiled a new set of trading tools for active investors on Tuesday at its HOOD Summit in Houston, Texas. The company is aiming to keep users inside its own ecosystem, instead of sending them to rival platforms, by offering more markets, longer trading hours and products that allow for higher risk-taking.

  • Weekend trading in selected U.S. stocks and ETFs
  • Longer options trading hours and more intraday margin
  • New contracts tied to metrics from company earnings reports
  • Perpetual futures in crypto and in-app AI agents

Robinhood plans to extend its 24 Hour Market service, which launched in 2023, into Saturday and Sunday trading. The company will route those trades through the alternative trading system Bruce ATS, further expanding a U.S. stock market structure that is usually limited to weekday sessions.

The move also reflects the pressure traditional brokers face as crypto markets remain open every day of the year, around the clock. With the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq having applied to extend trading hours, Robinhood’s latest step points to intensifying competition for active traders.

How will the AI agents work?

The company said the agents will work by letting users connect a separate trading account in the app and choose either an OpenAI or Anthropic model. The agents will be able to analyze markets, create watchlists and carry out stock, options and crypto trades.

Robinhood’s feature called “Loops” will allow users to give the agent standing instructions to carry out a strategy when certain conditions are met. According to the company, more than 150,000 accounts were created this year through the infrastructure opened to outside AI agents, and these tools generate millions of calls every day.

On the security side, Robinhood said every trade suggested by an agent will be sent to the user for approval by default. Users will be able to turn that protection off, but the agents will initially not be able to use margin borrowing and will only have access to the funds in their dedicated account.

The company will also offer paid access to external data from sources including Unusual Whales, Nasdaq, Token Terminal and Quiver Quantitative. That should give AI tools a broader set of market and company data for decision-making.

How will leverage and risk work in crypto perps?

Robinhood plans to first offer perpetual futures in crypto assets to eligible U.S. customers through Robinhood Derivatives and Bitstamp. The maximum leverage will be 10 times for Bitcoin and ether contracts, while the starting level for other supported assets will be 3 times.

Perpetual contracts allow traders to hold long or short positions without the expiry date found in traditional futures. But because higher leverage increases the risk of liquidation even on relatively small price moves against a position, Robinhood plans to start with lower limits on more volatile tokens and review those caps over time.

New contracts also target earnings season

Robinhood will also offer earnings contracts through Cboe, tied to companies’ revenue, earnings per share and certain custom performance metrics. The package shows the company expanding toward a model in which active retail investors can move faster between stocks, crypto, options, prediction markets and leveraged derivatives in a single account.
