Denial follows token promotion

The Solana-based token Trump Digital GOLD sparked controversy after briefly appearing on Saturday on the X account of Real Trump Coins and on RealTrumpCoins.com. Real Trump Coins said the token was not issued, promoted or authorized by the company.

The brand said it believed third-party bad actors were behind the incident. The promotional posts on X were later deleted, and the link in the account bio was also seen redirecting to the TrumpCoins.com domain instead of RealTrumpCoins.com.

In its statement, the company said it was carrying out an investigation with the authorities. Even so, the incident drew attention in the crypto market because both the social media account and the website were used at the same time to promote the token, creating confusion.

On-chain data pointed to supply concentration

What do the sales and profit figures show?

According to Lookonchain data, token supply was concentrated in very few hands immediately after launch. That suggested that price action may have been controlled by a limited number of wallets.

  • Developer and newly created wallets controlled 82.45% of the total supply.
  • 15 team-linked wallets sold about $330,000 worth of tokens.
  • The estimated profit from those sales was reported at $312,000.

In crypto markets, this kind of concentration is closely watched as an added risk signal for liquidity and price formation, especially in newly launched tokens. In this case, the swift wave of selling after the brief promotion pushed market credibility into question for investors.

Inconsistencies on official channels raised more questions

X user Rune questioned how both the social media account and the related domain could have been affected at the same time. That fueled debate over whether the incident may have been more complex than a routine account takeover.

During the period in question, the Real Trump Coins X account bio showed a TrumpCoins.com link, but a post dated August 25 that remained online directed users to RealTrumpCoins.com. The fact that the GOLD promotion was still visible on RealTrumpCoins.com at the time of publication also added to the uncertainty.

It was also noted that Donald Trump’s X account continued following the Real Trump Coins account, one of 53 accounts it follows on the platform. However, the available information does not indicate that this follow amounts to official approval of the token.
