NBA investigation delivers its harshest penalties

NBA has suspended Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer for one year following its investigation into alleged salary-cap violations linked to Kawhi Leonard. The league also fined the team $30 million and ordered Leonard to repay $700,000 for personal expenses and off-court income arrangements.

According to the NBA, Kawhi Leonard pressured the Clippers to create off-court income opportunities, obtained those opportunities and did not reimburse personal expenses covered by the team. The league said Ballmer knowingly supported those arrangements for Leonard and approved a business deal that served as a prerequisite for Aspiration to enter a sponsorship agreement with Leonard.
