Top results from Nations League night
In Thursday night's Nations League matches, Germany earned their first win under new head coach Jürgen Klopp. The Germans beat Serbia 2-0 and lined up with a completely different starting XI from the team that had recently lost to Greece.
Klopp handed first senior international appearances to Jonas Urbig in goal and Derry Scherhant on the wing. Germany started on the front foot, and the deadlock was broken in the 39th minute when Tom Bischof scored his first goal in his second appearance for the senior national team after being set up by Florian Wirtz.
After Nick Woltemade missed a clear chance at the far post, Florian Wirtz doubled the lead. The German player sealed the score shortly after the restart with a strike from outside the box.
Portugal stay top without Ronaldo
Portugal won 4-2 away to Denmark in their first match since Cristiano Ronaldo left the squad. Jorge Jesus's side therefore moved to 9 points from three games in Group A4 and kept hold of top spot.
The visitors led twice in the first half through Joao Cancelo and Goncalo Ramos. Denmark, however, responded both times through Mikkel Damsgaard and Rasmus Hojlund to keep the game level.
The turning point came in the 67th minute when Vitinha scored. Joao Felix added another in the closing stages to make it 4-2, giving Portugal a six-point cushion over their nearest rival after a difficult spell.
The Netherlands fought back late, Wales took their first points
Greece took a 2-0 lead at home against the Netherlands in the first half through Fotis Ioannidis and Giorgios Masouras. The Netherlands cut the deficit before the hour mark through Virgil van Dijk and kept pressing until the final whistle.
The equalizer many expected arrived in the 89th minute from Tijjani Reijnders. The Netherlands therefore rescued a 2-2 draw after coming back from two goals down away from home.
