Webull expands its Canadian investing menu with crypto

Brokerage and trading platform Webull has launched crypto trading in Canada, extending its local offering beyond stocks, exchange-traded funds and options. The expansion, announced on Monday, will run on Coinbase infrastructure for trading and custody.

The new service is built on Coinbase's Crypto-as-a-Service system. That means retail investors in Canada will be able to access digital assets alongside traditional investment products through the same platform.

Which assets are available first?

Webull Canada currently shows 10 crypto assets, including Bitcoin, Ether and Solana. The company also says additional digital assets are available.

  • Existing products: stocks, ETFs and options
  • New additions: crypto assets including Bitcoin, Ether and Solana

Rising user demand helped shape the decision

Webull pointed to growing adoption in Canada as one of the reasons for the expansion. Citing research from the Ontario Securities Commission, the company said digital asset ownership in the country rose to 25% this year, up from 10% in 2023.

The figures suggest that crypto demand among retail investors is influencing product strategies. With Canada now added, Webull's crypto services are available in the United States, Australia, Brazil and one more market.

Clearer rules are being prepared on the regulatory front

Growth in crypto investing in Canada comes as regulators work to build a clearer framework for the sector. Those efforts also include creating a federal regulatory basis for stablecoins.

What would the stablecoin bill cover?

Canada still does not have comprehensive rules for fiat-backed stablecoins. The proposal known as the Stablecoin Act emerged after the 2025 federal budget and aims to set requirements for both domestic and foreign issuers.
